The FSAN Initiative

The FSAN group was created by a group of service providers in order to facilitate the creation of suitable access network equipment standards and hence reduce the price of affordable equipment.

Initiative of FSAN

(1) There is difference in structure of access networks and deployment strategy of access systems with in each country because each country has unique geographic conditions and different customer requirements.
(2) System cost reflects on service tariff to customers directly because access systems are dedicated to specific customers.

In the initial stage of optical access system deployment, the key issue is to have the common system at effective cost and ubiquitous service spread.

(1) G7 (Group 7) was formed by 7 telecommunication companies in spring of 1995 and the name was relabelled to FSAN (Full Service Access Networks).
(2) Broadband-PON systems have been studied as the common systems for all telecommunication companies.
